Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions about Senior Portrait Sessions

Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions

Dallas Museum of Art Senior Pictures

Chances are, this is your first time thinking about senior pictures. Maybe you’ve seen your older sister or brother plan theirs, but it’s always different when it’s your very own. I’ve compiled the top 15 frequently asked questions when it comes to your senior portrait session from the planning, to the session, and the session premiere.

Planning Questions

Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions about Erwin Park Senior Portraits

What do I wear?

When you book your session, we will chat about the vision for your senior photos. What are you inspired by? How would you describe your style? In preparation for your photo shoot, send me your outfit ideas and I’ll help you narrow them down and what will work best for your vision. You’ll also receive links to all my Pinterest boards with outfit ideas, hair styles, and makeup photos. I’m a firm believer that it’s better to be over-prepared than underprepared, so bring your favorites! We’ll typically shoot between 4-6 outfits.

Where will my session take place?

Along with getting to know your vision for your senior portraits, we’ll chat about location. I have an arsenal of location ideas, I just need to know your style! If you love an urban feel, we can go to a Downtown area where it feels like city living. If you love nature, we can go to the lake or to a park where you can be one with Mother Earth. If you love a mix of both, we can do both. You have the freedom to choose a location that really matches your personality and style.

What about hair & makeup?

Hair and makeup is included with every session! It’s so much fun to be pampered and it feels great to not worry about if you do your makeup or hair right. Camera-ready makeup is different from regular every day makeup, as the camera will wash out your features. With the crazy fickle weather here in Texas, it’s also wonderful to have a hair stylist who knows not only how to do your hair for the weather, but to set you up for success with the right styling products.

Session Questions

What is a session like?

Your session starts with professional hair and makeup where the makeup artist will get you camera ready for your shoot. Gather ideas for hair and makeup from the Pinterest boards I send you to show your makeup artist. I want you to feel absolutely amazing for your shoot. From there, we’ll meet at the location and begin the shoot. I’ll coach you through posing, so don’t worry about a thing! We’ll shoot until sunset or whenever we run out of light.

How would you describe your style?

My style is a mix of editorial and relaxed posing. I want to photograph you just as you are. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to pose, I will coach you through all the poses – how to sit, stand, and lay down. You’ll be a pro by the end of your shoot. I’m inspired by magazines and lifestyle photography, so there will be a mix of posed and candid photos.

How long is a photo shoot?

We will shoot about about two hours. Sometimes it’s a little shorter, sometimes it’s a little longer. It depends on how many outfits you have and how much available light we have. Rest assured that if you want to wear five outfits, we’ll get through all of them! That’s why it’s super important to be on time to your hair & makeup appointment, so that we’ll have enough time to get to your location(s) and for outfit changes.

Session Fee Questions

What’s included in the session fee?

Your session fee books your date, gets you on the calendar and includes your photo shoot and a print credit towards your package collection.

How much is a session?

Session fees begin at $350. The booking fee for a session is $200. On the day of your session, you will pay the balance ($150) to the makeup artist directly.

Does the session include the digital images?

No, the session fee does not include any prints or products. However, your booking fee is applied to your order as a print credit. What does that mean? It means that you’ll have a $200 credit applied to your order.

Editing Questions

Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions about University of Arkansas senior portraits

How do you edit your photos?

I always want you to look like yourself! My editing is minimal and natural. I’ll adjust the color, brightness, and contrast. So no worries about overprocessing or your skin looking like plastic. I do not Photoshop to change you, I use it sparingly to remove blemishes and skinned knees or elbows from sports/activities.

Session Premiere Questions

Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions about Plano Senior Photos

How long until I get to see my photos?

About two weeks after your photo shoot, you’ll be able to see all your photos during the Session Premiere. The Session Premiere is where I present all your gorgeous senior portraits and help you decide what you’d like to do with your photos. It’s during this time that you will choose your photos and place your order. I will walk you through the entire process of ordering your products with your gorgeous images.

What products are available during the Session Premiere?

Our most popular products are prints, canvas, storyboards, albums, graduation announcements, and digital images.

Do I have to place my order at the Session Premiere?

Yes, ideally you would place your product order during the Session Premiere. If for whatever reason you are unable to place your order with me in person, you can choose a window of time for an online gallery to be uploaded so that you can complete your order. There is an online gallery uploading fee and you will not receive Session Premiere pricing.
