Ever wonder how I edit and retouch senior portraits?
So I thought it would be fun to show some Before & After photos from the DFW Senior Shootout. We each were able to work with three models, local high school students. I wanted to show how I edit and retouch senior portrait sessions to show that I don’t do much. I don’t change how you look, I simply enhance your natural beauty so that you look your absolute best.
One of the best ways to ensure that you look awesome for your session and makes it a million times easier to edit and retouch senior portraits sessions is with professional hair and makeup. It’s so important in my opinion that I include it with my sessions – it’s not an option. Professional makeup artists know just what to do to highlight your features and make you look camera ready. The camera tends to wash you out, so wearing extra makeup – and a makeup artist applies just the right amount – helps to ensure that you have a perfect complexion and all of your features are accentuated.

Need makeup ideas and inspiration? I have a Pinterest board for that. Check out makeup ideas here. Pin your favorite ideas and share it with my makeup artist when you book a session.

As for editing, my style is simple. I make adjustments for color temperature and brightness during the editing process. For retouching, I retouch any blemishes, smooth skin without making you look plastic, enhance the colors in the photo, and sharpen. Voila – that’s it! I want to make sure that you look like YOU. I want to highlight your beauty, but not overdo it so that your skin resembles a Barbie doll! As you can see from the examples, the edits are simply enhancing the straight out of camera (SOOC) photo.
