Depending on how the photographers you are looking at line up within these parameters will determine how much they cost. Keep in mind that there are photographers for every budget. If you’re a brand photographer, that means you don’t have to compete on price. If you’re a small business looking for a photographer, know that the ranges for photographers can vary greatly depending on these questions.

However, generally speaking, for a branding photoshoot, you’re looking at anywhere from $500 to $3000 for a branding photographer. Like I mentioned, if the photographer specializes in brand photography and have a proven planning process to create the photos you envision — they are going to charge more for that expertise.

Why does Branding Photography cost more than Portrait Photography?

Well, it depends. Because as a photographer, I can tell you that there are portrait photographers who charge more than I do for portraits! It really depends on the experience and the market and the photographer. You can’t compare on price alone.

I totally understand the the need to know how much you should expect to spend. I would want to know what to plan for too! And when you have the pricing in mind, you can know what to budget or save up for if you’ve found a photographer you like.

But also, it’s important to remember that a brand photoshoot is a business expense. These aren’t just pretty photos. These are photos with purpose. And that purpose is to help you attract ideal clients, make more sales, and make more money. There should be a return on investment for your photoshoot.

How much should I budget or save for a branding photoshoot?

I think it’s important for you to know your numbers. No matter what stage of business you’re in, you should know your numbers. So for example, if you’re just starting out in business and aren’t bringing in regular income, your budget is going to be smaller…until you start saving or budgeting towards a shoot.

If you’ve been in business for a while, then you probably have an idea of how much you spend on marketing per year. You can earmark money for your branding shoot and work within that budget. I’m not going to tell you how much you “should” be spending. I will tell you that some people may spend just $500 and others may spend upwards of $5000. However, the average is about $500/hour.

It all depends on the scope of the photoshoot. Are you only wanting new headshots? Or do you need a full day brand photoshoot to generate all the content for six to twelve months worth of social media posts? The photographers you inquire with should ask you how you plan to use your photos and guide you in the right direction based on your goals.

However, I know there will be people who will say, “just tell me how much I should expect to pay!” and “how much does a branding photographer cost?” and I’ll leave you with this: budget at least $1000 for your first brand photoshoot — all in. This means that between your photographer, location, makeup, and clothing, you could expect to spend $1000.

If you’ve been in business for a while or you have higher content needs, I would say budget at least $2000 for a brand photoshoot between the photographer, location, makeup, and wardrobe. However, once you establish a budget for yourself, you’ll be able to find someone who can work within your budget.
