Wondering what we are all about? Have a question for us regarding your senior session? Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. Please contact us with any additional questions!
Why choose a professional photographer?
I think we have all heard a horror story or two about senior pictures gone wrong! Remember that your senior photos are a special milestone, not just a quick photoshoot. You want to look back on the session with happy memories, instead of cringing at the thought. Take it from me, I kind of cringe whenever I see my senior pictures at my parents’ house.
When you choose a professional photographer, you’ll never have to show blurry, low quality, dark photographs to your loved ones. A true professional has experience, happy clients to recommend them, and takes the time to understand what you want and how to achieve it. I strive to provide you with top-notch care, walk beside you through each decision, from booking to product ordering. My seniors and their parents walk away happy, with photos they will treasure for the rest of their lives, and they know they ALWAYS come first!
I’m not a model. How will I know what to do and how to pose?
Well, I don’t know too many supermodels (actually, I no none!), but I do know a whole lot of GORGEOUS SENIORS! You don’t need to be a model, or even to have set foot in front of a camera before you come do your senior session with me, pinky promise. I love giving my seniors with the tools they need to walk away feeling confident and amazing.
I help you pose throughout your photo shoot, with gentle guidance, and help you feel comfortable so that you can focus on genuine smiles and expressions. Don’t worry, I will tell you where to put your hands as it’s the MOST frequently asked question during a shoot! I love bringing out real laughter and smiles (be prepared, there may be a terrible joke coming)….so please don’t worry about not knowing how to pose, we’re going to have a great time, laugh a lot, and get senior photos that will make your friends jealous!
What should I wear?
I always tell my seniors to wear their normal style, just amped up a little. I recommend including one more conservative, polished outfit so they have photos that will be less trendy and will withstand the test of time (examples: a solid color dress, a button down or blazer, a simple sweater or cardigan, etc).
That being said, if your style is boho or grunge, then rock it out girl. Make sure to try things on a couple of weeks before your shoot, complete with shoes, so you can see if you need to change undergarments or hide bra straps. Make sure you can sit/stand/move in your attire and shoes so that you don’t have to be self conscious during your session.
How do I prepare for my shoot?
It is a great idea to take care of your skin year round, but especially 30 days before your session. Try a gentle skincare routine and moisturizer to keep your skin glowing and beautiful. Girls, if you are planning a drastic cut or dye, either test it several months before your session, or wait until afterwards. Dye jobs can go awry, even with the most professional stylists!
I also recommend organizing your outfits before your session. Put your outfits together on hangers, so you know what pieces go together and won’t feel like you’re scrambling last minute. Make sure you steam or iron any garments before you arrive, and walk in front of a light source to check for sheer items.
I want to include my instrument, sports equipment, or varsity jacket…Can we do that?
Absolutely! Please let me know before your session (not the day of) if you’d like to personalize your shoot with your activities. If I have advance notice, we can better incorporate your ideas to make them come to life.
How much will portraits cost?
Your senior photos are the culmination of your high school career. They document a once-in-a-lifetime moment when your whole life is about to change…you’re preparing for college and adulthood. Please keep that in mind when booking your senior session! These are photos that you’ll love to show your children or grandchildren someday. My booking fees for senior sessions begin at just $225, with product collections sold separately. Your booking fee reserves your senior session, and you also receive a complimentary consultation.
How much does the average client invest in as far as products?
The average client spends between $925 and $1750 in their senior collections and products. Some spend more and some spend less, whatever you purchase is entirely up to you. We believe every senior deserves beautiful portraits. Payment plans are available upon request. I am happy to answer any questions regarding your investment in the seniors portraits you’ve dreamed of!
Now what? Still undecided?
Book your free consultation. The first thing you need to know about my consultation is well, it’s with ME! I personally meet with all my clients so I can get to know you and you can get to know me, so that by the time you get in front of the camera, we’re like old friends! (You know, new “old” friends.) This is one reason why I only accept a limited number of seniors each year…I never want to lose the personal touch that has helped me grow my business.
I believe every senior’s story MATTERS, I carry those personal values right into my senior shoots. I believe each senior has value, every story is important, and that a personal relationship is powerful. In a generation of selfies and Snapchat, comparison and competition, I help you see yourself authentically and celebrate your accomplishments as you get ready to embark on the next stage of life. My goal is to take the best photograph you’ve ever seen of yourself.
Best of all, a personal consultation is free! It’s the ideal way to kick off your senior session, and help us get to know one another before the big day! I can’t wait to meet you!
