Who’s ready for some football?
Well, if you didn’t know, the Super Bowl is this Sunday!
Growing up, I was never a huge fan of football. I didn’t understand it. I just knew that there was a ball being thrown and guys in helmets hitting each other. But I remember that we would always go to my Uncle Chucky and Auntie Yolli’s house for the Super Bowl. I still didn’t understand the game, but they always had a good spread of food, and the commercials were pretty funny.
It wasn’t until I was in high school that I started paying attention to football. I remember in my Freshman year we played flag football in PE. And we were tested on it, so we had to know all the rules. I wasn’t very good, but at the next Super Bowl, I could finally follow along with what was going on. Plus, the Half Time Show was usually a pretty good show.
But it wasn’t until I started dating Cent and later getting married that I finally started showing interest in sports.
Now, don’t be fooled. I don’t get crazy excited or yell at the TV during a football game. I’m not a diehard fan by any stretch of the imagination. But, over the last three years that we’ve been married, I’ve asked my husband questions, why certain calls are made, who certain players are, and questions about what’s happening in the game. I’ve shown interest.
This is progress, people.
And this year, I won’t lie, I’m super excited that the 49ers are in the Super Bowl! I get to cheer on my hometeam. And considering that the last time the 49ers were in the Super Bowl was when I was in 4th grade, it’s about time!! I’m also excited that it’s a Harbaugh Super Bowl. The head coaches of the 49ers and the Ravens are brothers. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of Tom Brady and it was totally going to be boring if the Patriots went to the Super Bowl. AGAIN.
I’m also looking forward to Beyonce performing during Half Time. I’m so glad the producers are finally branching out of the old rock star line up. Who remembers the CSI theme song Super Bowl when The Who performed? That’s all I could think about!
Where are you watching the Super Bowl?
Even if you’re not, I’m sure that the Half Time show will be great and so will those million dollar commercial spots.
