So, I kind of didn’t keep up with my Self Portrait Series too well this year. Life happens, you know? But since I got my hair cut a few weeks ago, and found this photo from Thanksgiving in California, it got me to stop and take a moment.
My hair was so long! Probably the longest it has been in years, and the funny thing is that I hardly noticed. That got me to thinking about all the things I might have missed because I didn’t take a moment to slow down and notice.
If 2013 is anything like 2012, I totally want to tap the brakes instead of hitting the gas…I want to take more time to savor every moment. I want to slow things down. From the big accomplishments to the little in between things, and not miss a single second. Because all it takes is a blink of an eye. And it can be all gone.
It’s easy to want to speed through life, to get to the “next thing”, the next milestone, the next accomplishment.
But I challenge you to join me, and slow down in 2013.
Enjoy every moment.
Tell the important people in your life that you love them.
Say, “Yes,” to dessert.
Say, “No,” to cell phones at dinner time.
Take that vacation and leave the laptop at home.
Be spontaneous.
Make time for things that matter.
Eliminate what doesn’t.
Dream big dreams.
Share. Give. Repeat.
Believe in yourself.
Remember to take a break.
Write out your goals and DO them.
What do you want to make happen in 2013?
