It’s a Holiday Tradition with my family. Growing up, I took ballet classes, and every December we’d have a weekend of performances of The Nutcracker. For a couple of years that I danced, I had the chance to perform in Oakland Ballet’s The Nutcracker as part of the Gingersnaps and Mother Ginger dance. It was so fun. The Nutcracker has always been one of my favorite and fondest holiday memories!
So for me, the holidays feels slightly incomplete without attending a performance of The Nutcracker.
Here are some ideas of things to do this weekend that work great as holiday date night ideas in Dallas and Fort Worth:
Last year, we went to see Texas Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. It was great! I definitely got my Nutcracker fix. I read that this year’s version has been reworked, so I’m sure it will be wonderful.
Whenever I think of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, I can’t help but think of the Disney version with Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit and Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge. And if it’s not that version, I also think of the Muppet’s Christmas Carol with Kermit the Frog as Bob and Michael Caine as Scrooge. I’ve actually never seen at stage performace of A Christmas Carol, but Dallas Theater Center is performing through December 23rd. I’m sure it’s a Christmas treat.
I’m excited that the Dallas Arboretum extended the Chihuly exhibit through the end of December. The Chihuly Nights tickets were all sold out when I was looking, so we’ll have to go see it during the day. I’m still looking forward to checking out the glass sculptures. And for the holidays, there’s Holidays at the Arboretum, with different Nativity sets from around the world set up. That sounds worth checking out while you’re there!
While I don’t live in Frisco, I do love me some lights. I read that every evening from 6-10pm, there’s Christmas in the Square in Frisco. Check out the video below for a preview!
Just a few things to check out this weekend! Happy Holidays!
