I’ve lived in Texas for about seven years, but I have yet to really explore outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Last month I had the awesome opportunity to attend a photography workshop focused on senior portraits down in Austin!
This Austin senior portrait photography workshop was called Artful Chaos and taught by the wonderful Spanki Mills, an Austin-based senior and family photographer.
Artful Chaos really helped me to see in a new way when it comes to taking senior portraits. I can easily fall back into old habits of basic posing, and learning from Spanki helped me to think in a new way. To feel something in the photos. To wait for that moment that tells even more of the story without a single word.
It was rather overcast and rain threatened the day, but that didn’t stop an awesome shoot with 10 wonderful juniors and seniors from the Austin area.
Pushing your creative envelope is so good for the soul. To refresh the way you see things. To help you kick things up a notch.
I’m thankful that I was able to attend Artful Chaos, make some new friends, and learn some new things to make the senior portrait experience for my clients even better!
Who wants Austin Senior Portraits?
After photographing in Austin, I definitely want to make a trip down there again. It would be an awesome location for seniors who will be attending University of Texas – Austin in the fall, or if you just really love Austin. Taking photos on South Congress was a nice change of pace from the usual Dallas locations I’m accustomed to.
