A couple weeks ago, I flew out to Santa Barbara, California for United, an awesome photography conference. I love that the Showit community is truly a community, where everyone is open and willing to freely share ideas, tips, advice, so that we can all get better as photographers, business owners, and as people. I love that this community serves each other and that I could walk away with having learned new things to improve my photography and business, but also with new friends.
On the last morning of the conference, I attended a sunrise shoot. And if you know me, I rarely see the sun rise. However, this shoot was totally worth dragging my sleepy self out of bed and onto the beach. I mean it was the beach in Santa Barbara after all.

On this shoot, I learned how to work with ten yards of fabric to produce images like these. I can’t wait to try this with my current senior portrait clients. It will be so fun…now to just find a beach in Dallas. I’m so thankful for Rochelle Wilhelms for sharing this technique with us!
Amanda, our model, did an amazing job modeling in the chilly morning hours. I just love her curly red hair!

So, who has a long dress and wants to try this out?
Or, the more pressing question, who wants to have their senior portraits in California??
