Today we board a plane to Florida.
This weekend, we’ll be remembering Cent’s Granny and celebrating her life.
I’m so thankful that we have this photo. That, two years ago, I insisted on taking a photo of Cent and his granny. For memories. For posterity. To remember the moments together. These photos mean even more now than ever before.
I’m so thankful that we made a trip out to Savannah last month before Thanksgiving to see Cent’s family, including his Granny. As we were waiting for our flight at the airport, before we went through security, I insisted again that we should take some photos. I’m so thankful she obliged. I’ll never forget one of the last things that she told me she didn’t like photos because her eyes were “too squinchy”.
Granny, we love you and we’ll miss you dearly. I hope all is well in Heaven.
Times like these remind me of why I’m a photographer. To capture people so that they can be remembered now and in the future. Once people pass, photographs are irreplaceable treasures of our loved ones to keep close.
