I’m liking this week’s prompt of ways to rejuvenate a space. One of my most favorite times of the year is when the Ikea catalog is released each summer. Ever since I was a teenager, I have always loved flipping through the Ikea catalog and dreamed about what I would do in my bedroom, my future apartment, and my future home. There’s just something fun about dreaming about interior design and decoration. In fact, when I was younger, interior design was on my list of dream careers. I would watch all the interior decoration and remodeling shows on HGTV and see what I could come up with…nothing as good as the pros, of course.
I absolutely adore the TV show Fixer Upper. I think there’s something magical about a before and after transformation. It’s amazing the houses that Joanna and Chip Gaines find (some of them totally seem like a lost cause) and watching them take the structure of what is there and transforming it into something beautiful. You wouldn’t even recognize the house after they are done. I just wish that they’d extend their service just one hour north…here in DFW…I’d totally hire them for a fixer job! I do want to make a trip to their shop, Magnolia Market down in Waco one day.
Before they stopped blogging regularly, my favorite home decor blog was Young House Love. I appreciated how much work they put into documenting and sharing their process through their DIY projects and even asking readers for input and opinions. Now they blog their finished projects and still share their process. They have a plethora of projects that include their kitchen renovation to art for their office. It’s awesome.
It’s week 11 of the 52 Lists Project and today’s prompt is:
List the ways to rejuvenate a space
- paint the room
- move around the furniture
- purchase an accent piece
- new art
- organize/re-organize a bookshelf
- create a gallery wall
- new curtains/blinds
- hang framed artwork or photos
- add a statement rug
I mean, this list could go on and on. I have a running list of ideas for our home that’s a mile long. One of my favorite ways to rejuvenate a space is paint. Paint is an easy and inexpensive way to change up a room. I’ll be honest, however, we’ve lived in our home for six years and still have yet to paint our bedroom. Thankfully, the color is pretty neutral and it’s why I haven’t been in a huge rush (six years later, ha!) to repaint the room…but it is something that I want to tackle, eventually.
What are some favorite ways to rejuvenate a space?
