I never thought that I would be interested fashion blogs mostly because my understanding of fashion stems mostly from episodes of Project Runway. My idea of a great outfit includes yoga pants and soft t-shirt…not quite haute couture. However, now that I work with high school senior girls who have an amazing fashion sense, I knew that I needed to get my butt into gear and at least know what’s going on. Like I tell friends of mine, I can see fashion and what works, but I don’t really know how to put it together for myself. I can style and outfit clients with ease, but I think I need to hire a stylist someday.
Paris in Four Months – I discovered this blog just a few weeks ago through The Glitter Guide – another awesome lifestyle blog – and the title was enough to draw me in. And it’s the photos that kept me scrolling. I loved reading about Carin’s story of chasing her dreams to move to Paris. And now she’s living the dream. I love the photos of her Parisian life and the food and fashion that she shares. It makes me want to go back so badly!
Kendi Everyday was one of the first fashion blogs I discovered. It was my first real introduction to a “What I Wore” type post. And it spurred inspiration for my senior portraits. Through her outfit blog posts, it sparked ideas for posing, and creating a more lifestyle and editorial look to my photographs. If you’re local to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Kendi is a local and owns a boutique called Bloom in McKinney.
The Refined Woman is run by a photographer friend of mine, Em the Gem along with fellow photographer Kat Harris. I aspire to be even a fraction as stylish as they are one day. I love their outfit posts and when they share photos of what they’ve been up to. I get some great inspiration for posing from their posts!
I recently discovered A Piece of Toast Blog and fell in love with their outfit photos. I strive for my senior portraits to be fashion and editorial inspired and checking out fashion blogs is definitely a part of my inspiration. I love pinning great looks as well as poses for ideas. The blog is run by sisters, Sally and Molly, and is overflowing with gorgeousness.
I love discovering new-to-me fashion blogs. Pink Peonies is one of them. I think I stumbled on a photo that was pinned on Pinterest. And after scrolling through various posts, I was hooked. I love how her photos are very lifestyle and have this natural feeling to them. I’ve been pinning her style posts since.
This was just a small peek into a few places that I go to spark inspiration for senior portrait fashion. Thinking about a senior portrait session? Fall is my favorite time of year to photograph in Texas! The weather is cooler and sunsets are richer. Golden hour really is golden. This is the perfect time of year to book your senior portrait session with Catie Ronquillo Photography! I still have 3 spots left in October – with one weekend date available. BOOK YOUR SESSION NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!
