Every year, Pantone releases the color of the year. For 2016, those colors are Rose Quartz and Serenity.
That means that we’ll probably be seeing a lot of clothing in these tones. They are a more muted versions of pink and blue, which work well with spring colors. I like the calm vibe that the two colors portray. Our culture could use some calming vibes these days.
From the Pantone website:
“For the first time Pantone introduces two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity as the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”
I find it fascinating what colors they choose and forecast as the color(s) of the year. And it’s interesting because trends form around the colors and it determines the color landscape for fashion for the upcoming season. I’m sure we’ll also see these colors a lot if you attend any weddings this season. If you’re into fashion, Pantone’s website is really great for studying colors.
So what do you think about the Pantone Colors for 2016?
What do the Pantone Colors for 2016 mean for you and your senior session?
Nothing, really. I encourage my clients to wear what they love. If that happens to be Rose Quartz and Serenity, then cool. If you absolutely hate those colors, it’s not problem!
Wear clothes that reflect your personal style and the style that you aspire to have.
What do I mean? If you’re a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl – bring your favorites to wear to your shoot, and then also bring something that you love – like a one-shoulder dress, but maybe you don’t get to wear it a lot because it’s for a special occasion or event.
Dressed down and dressed up are two great ways to reflect your personality and style.
If you’re into fashion trends, you can get a leg up and shop for clothes in these colors and tones. But there’s not requirement for it! I just find it really interesting that there is even a color of the year!
