Are you a fan of the Winspear Opera House for senior pictures?
Spring is nearly officially here! This means that the beautiful weather has arrived and it’s time for Spring senior sessions. Although, let’s be honest, Spring arrived in early February here in North Texas…right?
Grace is a senior and part of the Class of 2017 from Coppell High School. For her senior session, she wanted an urban look and feel to her shoot so we went to Downtown Dallas for her Winspear Opera House senior pictures.
The Dallas Arts District is an awesome spot for senior pictures because there are a lot of different locations, all within a few minutes of walking distance from each other.
All senior portrait sessions come with multiple outfit changes, and I recommend that you wear what makes you feel comfortable, yet polished. If you love wearing casual clothes, I wouldn’t expect you to wear a suit. If you love to dress up and are a total fashionista, I wouldn’t expect you to wear jeans and t-shirt. Feeling comfortable and confident in your outfits is key to a great shoot!
One of the things that I have started to incorporate into my senior sessions is grabbing a quick picture with mom. And even if she protests, I gently encourage because, think about it.
When is the last time that you have had a photo with your daughter? When is the next time that you might have a professional photo with her? If not now, will it be her wedding? And God-forbid, what if that day never comes?
I implore moms and daughters to exist in photos. I urge you to exist in photos together. I’ve heard one too many stories lately of life ending too soon — because of car accidents, because of cancer, because of a random event.
When my grandmother died last year, immediately I went looking for photos of her. Of photos of us together. And lucky for me, I had insisted that we take a few informal family photos at the previous Thanksgiving.
